I helped lead the bus tour on May 30th at 11am and we had the luxury of seeing the top floor area of the Met. It is truly a magnificant building and I had a wonderful time imagining what it must have been like decades ago in its heyday. A lovely place and I highly recommend people come out and see it.
What a treasure and what an opportunity to see. (We saw on the 6/6/09 bus tour. This was the highlight. I can hardly wait to see the performance here! The space is magnificent. Too bad it will never be saved. It would cost more than it would cost to build from scratch.
My husband and I along with our ten year old atteded last nights performance at the Opera House. We really enjoyed it...
I am looking forward to hidden cities next year. These buildings and their histories are so amazing and they showcase Philadelphia even in their current states of disrepair for the gem of a city it is.
At the conclusion of the show I like many others went downstairs to see the church. I was struck by the image of the tarpe ....above the pulpit and the congregation
I wanted to hear about this one piece of current history ...i wanted to hear the gospel music which was must soar from this space into those rafters every sunday ..i wanted to hear the singing of adults and children coming from the floor as one final movement in what was a powerful story.....
